Stuff I've done by myself

Since being in Idaho Falls and having the advantage of grandparents and aunts available to tend my children, here are some things I've been able to do BY MYSELF:

-go running, every single day, for as long as I want, unencumbered by the snack/nap/potty needs of my offspring. This is pure bliss.

-drive a car. And listen to talk radio while I'm doing it.

-go shopping, without having to haul two kids along with me into the dressing room.

-take a shower without a little munchkin or two sitting on the bath mat, observing me, or causing problems while I have shampoo in my eyes and am powerless to mediate.

-go to the bathroom. With the door closed and everything!

-eat a few meals. Not technically by myself, really, but without having to cut food into bites for Miriam.

Ah, sweet solitude. I don't know how I'm going to go back to real life this week. Sigh.

Ooh, that car one is especially exciting. I get all excited when I get in the car without children, and I get to listen to whatever I want. Only I usually listen to booty-shaking rap music or something equally sad... but to each their own, right? :)

That's great! Why am I not really surprised that you listen to talk radio?

I think the things that I miss being able to do by myself is taking a shower and going to the bathroom. Mom's just don't get the privilege of privacy.

Glad to know that I am not alone in these joys of motherhood. The other day Alexis said I didn't need privacy... If only she knew.

that is awesome!!! Dont you LOVE that? But dont you also miss having your kids whine at you all day and depend on you....ok, maybe not.
I am starting my "run everyday" goal. I used to run 3-4 mls a day (2 yrs ago) and ever since getting prego with the twins I have never done that again. I MISS IT! I am starting NOW!

You know, it just isn't the same when the whole family lives nearby. When we have get-togethers, everyone is there tending to their own children, and no one is overjoyed to see their siblings offspring, much less relieve any of the parenting responsibilities. It's kind of sad. But I am happy you had such a nice time!
