Bring Back Our Girls

Today, you have a chance to join in a group fast and prayer for the girls who are being held captive in Nigeria. You can find the details here: #BringBackOurGirls Day of Interfaith Fasting and Prayer. You can find a really excellent blog post about the whole issue here: "If All You Can Do Is Care, Then Care."

I am not full-on fasting since Sterling is still breastfeeding, but I am doing what I can. Are you joining in?

I wrote a comment yesterday that isn't on here. In countries where we do not live in fear of these horrors, we should do all we can to stop them. We can and should stand up to these criminals and pressure the governments that give them a pass.

I participated, too. I am so disgusted and horrified by this whole thing. It really hurts my brain to know that human beings have existed on this planet for millennia (at least) and yet many of us still believe women are things to be taken and sold, treated as property. It's just upsetting. I also like to think that today is still an age of miracles, and that with combined faith, those girls will be protected, or released, or something. I also think another miracle that comes out of this is the growing awareness of the atrocities that are occurring. Global awareness means a shrinking world, and I'm hopeful that acts like this will become less and less common every day.

(I've also posted two comments in the last week that disappear. Weird!) =)

I didn't fast, per se, either (because....breastfeeding), but as a person of faith who believes in a God of miracles, I hope we take every opportunity to "weary the Lord" on behalf of these girls------and the girls and women who are taken and trafficked every day across the world.

I have no idea what's going on with the comments. Sigh.
