Nora (3 years old) has a sun dress that has spaghetti straps, it was a hand-me-down. The first time she wore it, I instinctively made her wear a shirt under it. The next time, Tyler dressed her with no shirt. Nora was ecstatic that she didn't have to wear a shirt and I thought, "yeah... Why does she have to wear a shirt? It's 100 degrees outside." Also, Tyler sent me a text with the lyrics to the "this is crazy" song and I was singing it all. Day. Long. At work. I had to sneak off to the med room to let it out cuz you cant be singing that in front of the patients.

Also, I have dreams all the time that my kids go missing and/or are killed. It's why I can't watch TV or movies or read books that are remotely violent or scary.

The post on modesty... I didn't agree with 100%. I definitely DO agree that we shouldn't be all judgy about the minute details of what people wear who don't share our beliefs or who haven't made temple covenants. And I wholeheartedly agree that it's unkind to single people out who show up to church in something that doesn't fit in with church culture. But I disagree with the idea that we shouldn't be teaching our children and teenagers to dress the same way we do just because they haven't made the same temple covenants yet. I feel like it's kind of like not bothering to teach kids about chastity just because they haven't made temple covenants. (Obviously it's NOT exactly the same since that's a commandment, I know.) Anyway, I'm not doing a very good job communicating how I feel about this. But I can say that I do try to make sure my 2 1/2 year old daughter wears sleeves and not-too short shorts. I'll probably always just be that way. But that doesn't mean I'm going to look down on her friends or her friends' parents if their kids show up in tank tops and short little kid shorts. Because, seriously.

That's funny that you didn't see the post when I first put it up - I was halfway expecting a comment from you because you'd previously said something on my blog about having a modesty post in draft and I assumed our feelings on the issue were similar. When I didn't hear from you, I thought, "Hm...I guess she DOESN'T agree..." Haha. I think you should still write yours, though. Your thoughts are always more organized (and less ranty) than mine.

Bridget you can cook your eggs in the oven and I hear they are much better then boiled...harder to mess up. Grace is obsessed with cutie marks. I expect this to be our search terms in just a year. She wants to be a My Little Pony and prays for it almost every night. She also is constantly putting fake tattoos on herself. I didn't see the connection until now. I'm about 90% sure she will end up with a real tattoo someday and her father will blame me :) PS Google search memory is how people check up on their spouses or kids to see if they are looking at porn....oh the joys of a teenage son....

Modesty: amen. I AM SO OVER IT, and yet I deal with it all the freaking time because I work with the teenage girls. Also, the google suggestions made by a commenter? What the heck?

I find it interesting that a different person than the one who confessed was convicted of Etan Paz's murder in a civil case. I wonder how this arrest affects that, if at all. Also, I can't imagine anything more horrific than having your child disappear and not knowing what happened. Talk about something that would constantly haunt you.

Of the people I know missing digits, they are men who lost their nubs due to either a) a hungry-hungry lawnmower, or b) running your work-piece through the table-saw a bit too aggressively. That's really funny about the corn on the cob search because I did that exact same thing last year. I felt totally embarrassed that I would look something up, but then felt justified because I would have boiled them a LOT longer than recommended, so in the end it was good that I looked it up.

My favortie Google search was when I asked Google "How to make corn on the cob" and the website I found totally mocked me! It said and I kid you not, "Why are you reading about how to boil corn on the cob? How hard is it to boil water and throw in an ear of corn? Perhaps you just want to know how long to boil it? Maybe there is just one specific thing that you've forgotten? Well follow along with me and refresh your memory why don't you!" I already know I am an idiot about cooking!
